Is it worth it building a base on the underwater islands?

I have been considering it for a while and when i saw the only hostile thing there are the bone sharks (which are easy to deal with imo) i got REALLY interested in the biome. I also heard there are a lot of resources there, mostly uraninite at the bottom, which i could use for a nuclear reactor and most the useful materials can be found there or in the nearby biomes. Without mentioning it has a border with the blood kelp zone, and there is a good entrance to the lost river there.

The question is: is it worth building a main base at? (I mean an actual main base, where all my stuff will be and where i will spend most of my time at)
