How do I build walls on my base?

In the original Subnautica. I built my foundation, and I don’t know how to get walls.

I don't think you can make, or ever could make, flat walls

I think he means reinforcements, well you need Lithium and Titanium for that. And the wall you build them on cannot be occupied by something else like windows.
