I've always found that it's easy to get to the Aurora if you stay close to the seafloor and enter from the side of the wrecked part. That way you can avoid reapers better. If you go fast enough than sandsharks and stalkers shouldn't be an issue.

Safe shallows next to the pod is good. Go in by the back with the perimeter defense system to shock harmful creatures.
