IF subnautica 3 is confirmed, where and when would it take place?
For me it would be robin going to the precursor home world.

Its probably going to stay in the original subnautica world. Subnautica at the core is an underwater crafting/survival exploration game. If you stray away from that, it isn't really subnautica anymore- it's just a game that picks up where the story left off.
It's likely gonna take place in the same setting and style as the current subnautica games. I highly doubt it'll take place in the architect world, but i'd love for some architect/precursor stuff to still be there!
What if its one where it takes place in the void?
Do they ever mention what the hyperspace of subnautica is?
Also, I want to revisit the crash site area. Maybe not actually go there, but at least be able to see some posters of what the reckage looks like and a data card that is an advertisement to settle the area around the Aurora.
This is off topic, but I think it would be unique if a game made by the same developers took place on land.
Ah yes
LANDNAUTICA
Subnautica 1 stopped when riley left 4546B.
Subnautica 2 stopped when robin left 4546B.
I don't think it'll let us play on the precursor world unless it isn't that different from 4546B.
I think it'll bring us to another new part of 4546B with a new ecosystem and biome type. Perhaps an abyssopelagic themed place where instead of there being a surface world with a drop pod you have to live in a crashed escape pod that got launched after a ship got shot by the quarantine enforcement platform. You landed in the void with an emergency thermal plant being deployed from your escape pod onto a thermal vent powering the life support systems. You would have to survive against many abyssopelagic inspired creatures like an angler fish, dragon fish, or gulper eel. There would be multiple pieces of alien debris scattered around (most likely from a gargantuan leviathan attack centuries ago.) Some intact facilities would be located inside caves where you would find the blueprints for an emergency flotation pod so you could escape to the surface. However on your first attempt you would discover a massive leviathan living between you and the surface (possibly this one
) and it would disable your flotation pod. Then you would have to make a special kind of underwater thumper or massive flare to deter it on your second attempt. Then on your second attempt when you are about to get eaten it hears/sees the thumper/flare (in an awesome cutscene where it comes within 5 feet of the pod while making clicking sounds then its eyes flick back and it turns around super quick and dashes off into the darkness.) But then it would come back below your pod with its teeth snapping at you before getting grabbed by a bigger leviathan that lives down there (possibly a gargantuan.) Then you would reach the surface where you would be picked up by another merchant vessel responding to the aurora's distress call after riley disabled the QEP and left.
I actually just improvised that while writing this...
It sounds cool to me
Forgot to add some features
Instead of the mobile vehicle bay you would have to build an entire room to make vehicles
Also the vehicles would have to be much smaller because of the water pressure
New gauge which is a water pressure gauge. If you get too low then you take damage without a specialized suit
Instead of a grav trap there would be a light trap which pulls in deep sea fish with the same strategy that angler fish use
Your vision would be much lower due to the water blocking it but there would be a headlamp to brighten your area (also this would give floodlamps a use.)
Air bladders would be useless
Instead of just a water filtration system there would be a machine to filter bacteria out of thermal vents and make it into a kind of nutrition block made from the bacteria(like yeti crabs.)
The new leviathans would be mostly ground based with maybe some pounce attacks.
There would only be 1-2 vehicles. instead there would be remotely operated drones that can collect minerals with a claw and even deploy an emergency flare to distract predators (like an underwater spy pengling.)
My friend’s idea was to have the gargantuan leviathan as a final boss you have to defeat with a big Prawn Suit.
What do you think?
