I know a lot of people complain about Below Zero so why don't we discuss ways it could've been better? How would you rewrite the story? What would you change about the environment? What creatures would you add? What mechanics would you implement?

Bigger and spookier map, and more space so we can have a cyclops again or something like it. Also I want more purpose to the arctic spires.
Replace the Chelicerate model. The thing does not have the sinister majesty that the Reaper did, it just looks like a big bug that's gotten too close.
Replace the craftable Kharaa Cure with a stashed dispenser of imported Enzyme 42 globs. Being able to craft it out of common land plants cheapens the whole "struggle for the cure" storyline, even if you're unlikely to ever use the recipe.
Give Sam a storyline that doesn't basically make her a misguided terrorist.
Do something with the Sea Emperors. A sentient and friendly, and telepathic at that, leviathan species roaming the planet should have had a bigger impact on the story. Especially since a major driver of Subnautica 1 was that the Architects couldn't hear Sea Emperor telepathy and humans can, but now there's an Architect living in a human brain.
Yeah I agree with pretty much all that
I do too, the chelicerate looks cool but yeah it didn't strike the same level of fear as the reaper, honestly its void counterpart looked a lot scarier. And yeah the enzyme 42 crafting is weird, if it could be made from plants then it would've been found by the architects, I say there should've been globs of it floating around for you to collect or you go to a sea emperor to ask for some, like you talk to the emperor, it's responding and maybe since he's in your head, Al-An can hear them and is like "WAIT THIS THING COULD COMMUNICATE!?"
I think Sam could've instead been planning a secret idea with Margeurit to take down Alterra and she was just acting the whole time, and she was speaking in code to Robin, but alterra sussed her out and took care of her, margeurit was hiding so they didn't know about her.
The sequencing is what really killed it for me. In the original game, progression was really organic, and your objectives were found through exploring areas. Other than some light encouragement from lifepod beacons, the player was left to progress by themselves
BZ on the other hand, not so organic
Dont wanna be rude but doesnt the description of below zero say its like 2 years after the events of subnautica..after they found the cure.
Yup
@Billybobjimbo the complaints mostly seem to be in the fact that since Ryley found the cure and Alterra took over the planet, it doesn't feel as whimsical as Ryley's adventure, and with Al-An as a companion, you don't feel that scary sensation of being the only one alive on this cruel planet. I think this could've been remedied if Robyn was totally oblivious to the functions of the planet, like Sam hadn't told her anything about it
Ok i understand now.
@Billybobjimbo happy to be of help! :D
What do you think?
