Sunbeam Alternate route idea

I feel like the sunbeam should have an alternate route where you simply don't send a distress signal and cause them to get exploded. Sunbeam's guys are really some of your only allies/friends in the entire game, and it feels somewhat sad that they are destinied to be shot down.

There already exists an alternate "ending" for the Sunbeam in the game.

Basically, if you cure Kharaa and deactivate the Q.E.P. before the Sunbeam arrives, the gun won't kill them, but they also won't be able to land on 4546B because the planet's atmosphere is filled with debris from the Aurora.

So, if you want, you can save the Sunbeam but not much will change
