The resource collection bit would obviously need to be streamlined, some sort of automated harvester drone that the character creates early on. Otherwise the whole movie is about breaking rocks. Lose all of the finding PDA parts, maybe finding one Degassi base which has a bunch of data to fill in the gaps. Likewise the Enforcement Platform would point to the deeper bases. Easily a 2 hour movie at that point.
Look at the original game trailer video, we've got a Degassi survivor struggling to survive, infected. And at the last moments of the trailer we have the Aurora crashing down on top of him (He feels the vibration of the gun preparing to fire and rushes to a window, sees the flash, and mutters 'Oh damn'. Moments later sees the Aurora, on fire, heading directly towards him. And again mutters 'Oh. Damn'. Add some scenes from earlier onboard the Aurora about the rescue mission, etc, and you've already got a good 20 minutes of action taking place. Then Riley building a base, a vessel, uncovering the mystery of the Sea Emperor, and finally escaping.
Yeah, I'd go see it.
