Hello, Subnautica Wiki! I wanted to let you know that we're planning on displaying The Loop videos here on the wiki soon.

As some of you may know, we're going to begin retiring old Featured Video content and replacing it with wiki-targeted videos called The Loop, our weekly series from ScreenJunkies (same team behind Honest Trailers) that talks about news or big moments in pop culture. It's not always going to be Subnautica-related, but replacing Featured Video with this new series allows us to ensure that we don't have outdated Featured Videos on the wiki pages. The Loop also only appears twice per visit session, so if someone browses through something like ten pages in a single session on the Subnautica Wiki, they would only see The Loop on the first two page visits. This is much less intrusive than Featured Video, which as I recall is always present whenever you visit a page with a Featured Video attached. We don't want to keep showing the same content to the same user when they've already seen it.

Moving forward, we're also going to be working on awesome new video content types, like interactive videos that actually let you explore wiki content in the video player (i.e. you can click on something in a trailer and it will interact with the wiki page) which we're super excited about, but in order to get there, The Loop needs to be enabled on your wiki. I wanted to give you all this heads up for your information so that you aren't blindsided when the old Featured Videos are gone and replaced by new content from The Loop. Hello, everyone! I'm the Fandom Wiki Representative assigned to support the Subnautica and Below Zero wikis. Over the last few months, I've been in discussions with the local wiki admins about the possibility of merging the two wikis into one.

Having two separate wikis for two different games may not seem like that big of a deal, but given that Below Zero is strongly tied together with the original Subnautica--from flora, fauna, characters, and locations, even the planet is the same!--having the two wikis being separate actually causes a few problems. The biggest issue is that Google may accidentally think the two wikis are in competition. When Below Zero released, the view count on the Subnautica wiki dropped like a rock and the search results position likely suffered since people were looking for Below Zero content, even though the Subnautica Wiki should have been boosted simply by being associated. Of course, two different wikis also means two different user communities, which causes more trouble than it's worth when trying to communicate with people and discuss the series as a whole.

The admins have agreed to merging the two wikis and I've laid out a merge plan. I'm informing everyone before we actually start the plan so that everyone has a chance to read through and ask any questions.

The plan is do each of these steps in the following order:

We'll rename some templates, modules, and files on the Below Zero wiki to avoid conflicting names.
Editing will be stopped on the Below Zero wiki for regular users.
We'll migrate most of the Below Zero wiki's content (pages, templates, modules, and files) to the Subnautica wiki. Any pages that have the same name will get renamed to show "(Subnautica)" or "(Below Zero)" at the end of the name, so readers know exactly what they're looking at since some of the items work differently and have different recipes between the games.
A banner will be added to the Below Zero wiki to indicate that the wiki has moved to the Subnautica wiki.
At this point, any pages we did not migrate from the Below Zero wiki, we'll start editing on the Subnautica wiki to combine the two. These are mostly lore pages, such as Alterra Corp, Planet 4546B, and character pages.
Final housekeeping and verification, and eventually the Below Zero wiki will close and redirect to the Subnautica wiki.
