The game is supposed to be scary, it’s probably just something the devs put in to add to the scary alien ocean ambiance.

You could seaglide And try to get away, or at least try to get to a safer area. Since you will drop your items(not counting the ones you had when you last visited a base), you could come back and get them later.

The emperor eggs are not an item in the vanilla game. You could teleport to the area they are kept in though

I actually agree with your cuddlefish placement. For some reason, I just don’t find it very cute.
