Ghost actually has more health than the sea dragon, and has similar damage. Plus, Void Ghosts are the biggest in the entire game, beating the sea dragon.
Cyclops overheating can be a danger, because it'll catch on fire and the health can go down so that it explodes with you inside it. By the way, You have around 30 minutes after the ship explodes to make a rad suit, because after those 30 minutes the radiation starts doubling and tripling across the map.
There is a cyclops dock mod. It's just not very stable, and doesnt function well anymore, since the owner stopped maintaining it.

Or possibly, geographical movement due to the size of the volcano caused it to move up, the walls collapsed, which formed an island. More likely, it could just be a formation of magma.
It's a different kind of volcano. Large aquatic volcanos often form a caldera, which is probably where the playing area is.

Considering their behaviour with the cyclops and stuff, and destroying seamoths by smashing them onto the floor, maybe they are just trying to get to the player to - as jokingly enough, "give them a hug?"
But then their natural hunting instincts kick in and they obliterate you.
