The Fungal Sample is a raw material that can be obtained from the Tree Mushroom in Mushroom Forests. The PDA description states that the sample contains fungal enzymes.

The player can obtain Fungal Samples by harvesting a Mushroom Cap with the Knife. Crashing a Seamoth into the cap will also break it into small pieces. The only practical use for Fungal Samples is fuel for the Bioreactor.
