The Reinforced Dive Suit is a piece of equipment crafted in the Fabricator using specially armored fibers. It takes up four slots (2x2) in the player's inventory. In order to craft this item, the player must locate a data box containing its blueprint.
Appearance[]
The Reinforced Dive Suit is mainly dark grey in color, adorned with numerous orange patterns throughout the body. It sports multiple protective pads which are situated around the shoulders, biceps, forearms, chest, knees, shins, and feet. The gloves also have protective pads on the outside of the fingers, and on the back.
Functionality[]
The Reinforced Dive Suit cuts damage taken by 50% and increases heat resistance from 50°C (122°F) to 70°C (158°F). In addition to this it makes the player entirely immune to Tiger Plant spikes, but reduces swim speed by 0.95 m/s as a side effect.
Despite reducing damage taken by half, the Reinforced Dive Suit has no impact on the thresholds that trigger cinematic death scenes that instantly kill the player. As such, the suit offers no protection if the player is attacked by a Reaper Leviathan outside of a submersible with less than 81 health, nor from the Sea Dragon Leviathan's bite attack which is always capable of instantly killing the player from full health, despite the damage from their other attacks being reduced by 50%.
The suit's protection from heat up to 70°C (158°F) is still not enough to fully protect the player when in close proximity to lava in the Inactive Lava Zone and Lava Lakes, where the temperatures may exceed 90°C (194°F).
The complete outfit consists of a suit and a pair of gloves that when worn individually grant only a portion of the protections.
