Template:Class 2 FaunaThe Spadefish is a small, though larger than other edible fish, passive fauna species. They are very common and can be found in many biomes.

Spadefish are very easy to catch, making them a reliable food source.

Appearance

Spadefish have a flat, irregularly-formed body. They have two small pectoral fins and one long dorsal fin that extends across its tail protuding from the back of its triangular head. Next to its side fins, two tendrils extend towards the tail, to which they connect about mid-way.

Spadefish have a broad, yet low, mouth lined with small white teeth at the front, on top of which lies a single large eye with a black pupil that is split into two halves. A small concave black stripe goes up from the tip of its mouth.

The Spadefish's body is predominantly turqoise in color with a few lighter patches dotted around. A ring of reddish-pink skin encircles the eye and it has bright bright orange fins. The patches, fins and the area around the eye emit bioluminescent glows at night.

Behavior

Spadefish swim at a moderate pace. mostly hovering on the seabed, occasionally fleeing from the player when approached. They are usually grouped together making them very common in their respective biomes.

  1. Single Eye:
Observed swimming near to the seabed from where it can keep its one eye on predators in the water above it.
  2. Mottled-green Coloration:
Commonly encountered in plant-rich environments, the spadefish is well-adapted to hide amongst the vegetation.

Trivia

  • Their databank entry, physiology and behaviour all suggest that the Spadefish is a detritivore, rather than a herbivore - this places them in the same ecological niche as the Jellyrays and the Ghostrays.
